Soap Making Oils & Butters

We stock a good range of natural vegetable oils and butters for hand made soaps and toiletries.

Palm Oil and Coconut Oil are both solid at room temperature and are the major oils used in 'cold process' (traditional) soap making.

Cocoa Butter is a favourite ingredient in bath melts and Shea Butter is a popular butter for making skin-conditioning body butters.

Can be used in skin care recipes or as a carrier oil in aromatherpy.

Avocado Oil 500ml

Avocado oil contains vitamins A,D and E and is very moisturising. It isn't used widely as a major soap making oil as it doesn't produce a very good lather but it is an excellent inclusion in soap for those with sensitive skin.

Lovely in lip balms, lotions, creams and bath bombs. Our Cocoa Butter has been filtered rather than fully refined so it has a rich, creamy colour and mild chocolate odour.

Coconut Oil 1kg

A major soap making oil, coconut oil produces a hard soap with a wonderful fluffy lather. On its own it can dry the skin however, so best used in combination with other oils.

Mango Butter 250g

Include Mango Butter in any recipe as a substitute for Shea Butter. Use for its moisturising properties in body butters, lip balms, body lotions, and moisture creams.

Olive Oil 1 litre

Olive oil is gentle on the skin but it tends to be rather temperamental in soap making. Used on its own it will produce a softish soap so it's best used in conjunction with Coconut oil or a combination of Coconut and Palm oils.

Cold-pressed and refined palm oil from a verified, sustainable source.

Palm oil is made from the fruit of the oil palm. In soap formulations it is a good companion to coconut oil as it also produces a hard soap but is much milder on the skin so balances the coconut oil's drying effect.

Shea Butter 250g

One of the best 'superfatting' ingredients, producing a rich creamy soap. Derived from the nuts of the African Karite (Mangifolia) tree, this butter soothes irritated and chapped skins and has excellent moisturising properties.

Organic Shea Butter also available.

A lovely moisturising butter produced from organically grown shea nuts.

 

Sweet Almond Oil 100ml

A lovely moisturising carrier oil used widely as a massage oil.

Use in salt and sugar scrubs to soften and condition the skin.

Also excellent in skin creams and lotions.
